Becoming Real with Dr. Lori
“The world does not need more noise.
It needs more truth.”
WHY THIS PODCAST EXISTS
Fake is everywhere. Curated lives. Performative confidence. Superficial solutions. And honestly — it is exhausting.
It leaves people disconnected from themselves, from each other, and from what is actually true in their lives. That disconnection has consequences. It touches our mental health, our physical health, our relationships, and our spiritual lives.
WHAT WE TALK ABOUT
Becoming Real is about the hard parts of being human — and the courage it takes to stop performing and start living more honestly.
It is rooted in a holistic, integrated view of health, because mind and body are not separate. What we carry emotionally shows up physically. What happens in the body shapes how we feel, cope, relate, and live. Real healing asks us to look at the whole picture.
Real conversations. No filter. Solo episodes in under 25 minutes, or settle in for a longer conversation with a guest.
The Becoming Real Impact Award
Honoring Compassion In Action.
Influencers get attention.
Big names get the spotlight.
But every day, in real communities, there are people doing the work that often goes unseen.
They are feeding people who are hungry. Checking on neighbors. Sitting with the lonely. Supporting families in crisis. Standing beside the grieving. Protecting the vulnerable. Building bridges where the world keeps trying to divide us. Advocating for people who are too often ignored.
They are simply doing what love, conscience, courage, and compassion ask them to do.
The Becoming Real Impact Award honors individuals and organizations whose compassion has become action.
This award celebrates helpers, caregivers, volunteers, quiet leaders, community builders, advocates, activists, and everyday people making life more humane for others.
Because a more humane community is built by people who see suffering and refuse to look away. They move closer, help carry what is too heavy, and remind us that compassion is not just something we feel — it is something we do.
Each month, we recognize one person or organization creating meaningful change.
This is for the people who remind us what it means to be human.
The ones who show up.
The ones who care deeply.
The ones who make the world softer, safer, and more just — often without anyone noticing.
Now, we notice.
Nominate someone making a real impact
Do you know a person, group, nonprofit, volunteer, caregiver, advocate, or everyday community member who deserves to be recognized?
Nominate them for The Becoming Real Impact Award.
Because impact does not have to be loud to be powerful.
I’m Dr. Lori Stevic-Rust, a board-certified clinical health psychologist, and for over forty years I have sat with real people through some of the hardest, most tender, and most defining moments of their lives.
Every now and then, a patient says something that stays with me: “I hear your voice in my head when I’m trying to sort something out, and it helps.”
I love that.
So, maybe that is what this podcast can be.
Some therapeutic guidance and healing in your ear.
A place for real conversations. Real support. Real reflection. And a growing community built around what helps us become more honest with ourselves and each other.
Pull up a chair.
